Glenmore Park Cricket Club recently wrapped up its 2024 season, with impressive
results across both junior and senior teams. The club boasted a strong registration
with 4 senior teams and an amazing 12 junior teams, making it one of the largest clubs
in the Penrith District.
“In the junior competition, there were some very impressive statistics, and all our
junior players should be proud of their efforts this year,” said Club Secretary, Katrina
Wild.
“Collectively, our junior players scored 9,022 runs, including 14 half centuries and
three centuries. They took 788 wickets, showcasing their talent and dedication to the
sport. Five junior teams reached the semi-finals, with the Under 11 White Team and
Under 14 Black team clinching the Premierships for their age groups.”
In the senior competition, all teams made it to the semi-finals, with the 6th Grade
team emerging as Premiers, a remarkable achievement for the club.
“We had some of our female players feature in the Thunder Girls Cricket Program,
and it was great to see them shine in this competition,” said Katrina. “We have also had
our largest group of our littlest cricketers, our Cricket Blast Program. It has been great
to see the strength of our junior talent coming through.”
Looking ahead, the club is already planning for the next season, with preparations
underway for a strong showing from the Redbacks. The Annual Redbacks Cup and
Stick Wicket Day are also in the works, promising more exciting cricket action.
For those interested in joining the club, registrations for the next season will open in
July 2024. Keep an eye out for announcements on email, Facebook, and the Glenmore
Gazette for more information.
The club will also be holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 19 June
2024 at 7pm at Penrith Golf Club. All players and parents are encouraged to attend,
with several executive roles to be filled. It’s a great opportunity to support the club
and get involved in its future.
