The practice of ‘Topping Out’ a new building can be traced to the ancient Scandinavian era, when a tree was placed on top of a new building to appease the tree-dwelling spirits displaced in its construction. Today, the tradition continues and is used to celebrate a project milestone.
In keeping with this tradition, a topping out ceremony was held on Thursday 24th October to celebrate the completion of the highest portion of the building structure of Oran Park Town’s first standalone commercial building.
“Whilst this ceremony celebrated a key milestone, it was also an opportunity for us to thank all the subcontractors, consultants and suppliers who have been an important part of the delivery of this project” said George Bardas (CEO) of Richard Crookes Constructions.
Once complete, the commercial building will be known as TRN House, named after TRN Group, a local, well-respected family owned company who have played a significant role in the development of Oran Park Town.
Mark Perich of Greenfields Development Company in Oran Park Town said, “Once complete, TRN House will be the first A-Grade equivalent standalone commercial space offered for sale or lease in Oran Park Town”.
TRN House will stand alongside the existing Oran Park Podium retail and commercial precinct and will be the latest addition to Oran Park Town’s growing commercial hub.
“TRN House is in close proximity to the new Western Sydney Airport and is located adjacent to a future rail station and this has sparked a lot of interest from businesses looking to take advantage of its location. We’re particularly pleased that the entire ground floor will be dedicated to the provision of medical services to service our local community” said Mark Perich.
The event was also be an opportunity to promote Pink Up Oran Park, a breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign that supports the McGrath Foundation.
Both Oran Park Town and Richard Crookes Constructions have thrown their support behind the campaign with various sites across Oran Park Town turning a shade of pink during the month of October.
