Luddenham Public School students and teachers will be taking part in a study by the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Science at the University of New South Wales.

Schools Weather and Air Quality (SWAQ) is a citizen science project funded by the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science as part of its Inspiring Australia – Citizen Engagement Program. Luddenham Public School has been invited to take part in this research study and a research grade weather and air quality station has been installed on the school premises. The research study aims to monitor weather and air quality across Sydney.

The data collected at the school will help researchers better understand how Sydney’s urban weather and air quality vary across the Sydney basin. Teachers and students will monitor conditions at their school in real time and explore variations in meteorological conditions, e.g. heatwaves and thunderstorms.
