The Quickest way round is on the Bitumen: The History of the Oran Park Circuit by Neville Beyer is a book that was written to tell the story of the development of the Oran Park Motor Racing Circuit from 1962 to 2010 and the stories from the background, focusing on the people behind the scenes rather than the well documented racing results.

It was written as a tribute to the thousands of volunteers who made the action possible and as a reminder of just how Motor Racing in Australia had changed and evolved. For enthusiasts and lovers of Motor Racing, this book is for you.

It is full of personal histories and stories.

Whilst Oran Park Motor Racing Circuit is now gone and has since been replaced with families living where the Grandstand stood, the current housing layout has paid homage to the wonderful and rich history of the sport. This includes famous names adorning all the roads, parks and various place names – right down to the “The Straight” which follows the original straight that roared away from the Grandstand!

Oran Park was a circuit which catered for motorsport as against just Motor Racing and we will probably never see anything like it again.
