A new martial art is about to arrive in Glenmore Park, and this one is designed to take the pressure down rather than ramp it up. Liu He Ba Fa is a beautiful combination of Tai Chi and Kung Fu, blending the flowing movements of Tai Chi with the more “martial” elements of Kung Fu. It is also known as Chinese Water Boxing, a name that reflects the quiet strength that is inherent in this art.

Dave Adlam has been a martial artist for over 30 years and has run his own martial arts school in Glenmore Park for the last 18 years. Dave is a Master in Taekwondo and Haidong Gumdo (Korean Sword), but his most recent training in Liu He Ba Fa has fundamentally changed his approach to his martial arts practise. He has found that the gentle, controlled movements and the deep mindfulness of Liu He Ba Fa has provided both physical and mental benefits, and his students agree with him. Liu He Ba Fa uses meditative techniques to help calm and focus your mental state and uses gentle but strong movements to provide a whole-body workout that works with your body’s natural movements rather than against them. This allows people of all ages, and all levels of fitness to enjoy better emotional, mental and physical health without the risk of injury.

Dave is looking forward to sharing this restorative and energising practise at Fernhill School on Tuesday evenings from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.
