Picton hosted its largest event of the year last month, with the rejuvenated Illuminate Wollondilly Festival attracting thousands of visitors throughout the day and night.

This was the fifth year of the popular arts and cultural festival, which was bigger and brighter than ever.

Building illuminations showcased many of the historical buildings in Menangle Street and St Mary McKillop Lane, the evergreen tree featured projections of senior’s portraits, and the Stonequarry Creek Bridge and St Marks Church were lit up for the event.

Some of the highlights this year included a Waste to Art Competition and Exhibition featuring artworks made of recycled materials, a Silent Disco, Neon Putt Putt Golf, the Kids Carnival, live music performances, and of course the fireworks display at 9:00pm.

Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “This is a fantastic event for Wollondilly and shows just how much our community, towns and villages have to offer”.

“The collaboration and teamwork of volunteers, local businesses, community groups and sponsors has once again done our community proud”.

“I would like to thank all our partner sponsors for their participation and all the staff from Wollondilly Shire Council who worked tirelessly to bring this event together” he said.
