Well, a first for Luddenham with the circus in town. Circuses, for many years, stayed at Luddenham Showground during December, but they did not have any performances. Last month, Webers Circus put on 5 shows that received a lot of great feedback. Also busy at the Showground was the Luddenham Easter Festival, that was very well supported.
There is so much work happening on our roads. The Northern Road, either to Penrith or Camden, is now taking about 5 minutes more each way, as well as on Bringelly Road. Construction on the rest of The Northern Road is now getting underway.
A new roundabout has opened on The Northern Road near Eaton Road in Luddenham. This is to allow construction vehicles to access The Northern Road diversion around the Airport that is well under construction. Eaton Road has now been closed in the middle and is only accessible from either end.
The Sydney Science Park at Luddenham is owned and being delivered by property group Celestino. Celestino Chief Executive John Vassallo said more than 35 companies registered to participate in a planning event last month, including the likes of Hyundai, Bosch and Westfield. “Our intention is that Sydney Science Park will become an internationally recognised epicentre for autonomous vehicles research and development and commercialisation” Vassallo said. Spanning a 280-hectare rural site, Sydney Science Park is a $5 billion project which aims to deliver a centre for scientific research and development in the fields of food, energy and health, along the route of the proposed South West Rail Link. The thinktank, supported by Transport for NSW Smart Innovation Centre, is part of an expression of interest process that aims to deliver autonomous mobility solutions for the sprawling development. Pegged as Australia’s “first smart city”, the greenfield development is expected to become home to more than 100,000 people, with its first residents expected to move in by 2021.
TransGrid’s 330kV high voltage transmission power line crosses the airport site (between Willowdene Avenue and Longley’s Road) on structures at the location of the first runway. TransGrid have been relocating the transmission lines underground within the boundary of the airport site. This work is almost done, with the new transition sites now being constructed where the existing off-site overhead transmission line meets the new underground cables. We are expecting the overhead wires to come down shortly.
