The Blue Mountains and Penrith Districts Orchid Society are pleased to present an Autumn Orchid Show on 13th and 14th April at the Girl Guides’ Hall, on the corner of the Great Western Highway and Nepean Street in Emu Plains. This Show was re-introduced last year, after a ten-year gap and was a great success.

The Society has excellent growers who source their orchids from far and wide and an extensive range of exotic and native orchids will be on display. There will also be a variety of orchids for sale and experienced growers will be on hand to answer questions about orchid care.

The Show will be open 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and 10:00am to 3:00pm on Sunday.

Admission is $2 for adults and children are free.

The Society was formed in 1956 as the Blue Mountains Orchid Society with 30 members and initially met at various locations in the mountains, before moving to Melrose Hall in Emu Plains in the mid ‘70s. With an increase in members from the Penrith area, the Society’s name was changed in the early ‘90s to Blue Mountains and Penrith Districts Orchid Society and now has a membership of approximately 100 and a regular attendance at meetings of about 85 members. Meetings start at 8:00pm on the 4th Friday of each month, preceded at 7:30pm by a talk on orchid care for the less experienced growers. Visitors are welcome.
