Brook’s Amazing Year

Oran Park racing driver Tim Brook has completed a dream season behind the wheel, taking out the 2018 Toyota 86 Racing Series Championships and setting his sights firmly on defending his title this year.

The local father, who took out the Championship at the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 in November, is elated with his hard-earned win for the Tim Brook Motorsport team. “After claiming the title, my first feeling was that of relief. Having been competitive for the season, it was great to have results go our way. It was the best and I was pretty stoked. It soon turned into a big celebration for the team. It means a lot to achieve this in Australia” Tim told the Oran Park Gazette.

Brook’s goal now for the new season is to defend his title and repeat his success of 2018. “Our plan is to defend my title in 2019. Although I would enjoy the challenge of making the jump into another category, it just makes sense to go around again. Back to back is my goal. We plan to get the most speed out of the car and up the ante” he explained.

Tim and his team also hosted a Ride Day at Wakefield Park in December, which was a great opportunity for everyone to get together after a big season. Everyone was still buzzing from the Championship victory as they were treated to an exciting experience with Tim, his team and of course his race car, nicknamed ‘Black Betty’.

As for ‘Black Betty’, Tim doesn’t expect any real changes to the car for 2019. “We’ll be going over everything to make sure my car is as good as it can be. General maintenance, that sort of thing. All the ingredients are there for the car for another big year. We may change the livery (colours and design) on the car. All the cars in the category are the same. It will be a level playing field” he said.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their support last year. To have a lot of people recognise the achievement was quite overwhelming. Hopefully we’ll keep doing the job for the local area. I’ll give it everything I can” Tim ended.
