Firies Go Above and Beyond
The recent floods saw our emergency services out on site working hard to keep us all safe. Heroic men and women who were going beyond the call of duty to help. This included our local firefighters from Fire and Rescue Warragamba, who undertook an extraordinary medical delivery in Wallacia.
Fire and Rescue Warragamba had been called to help residents on Bents Basin Road in Wallacia who had been isolated due to the flood waters, needing food and medical supplies.
The rising water had left Bents Basin Road inaccessible, and transport was unable to enter.
With the supplies delivered from Oran Park to Warragamba Fire Station, firefighters Kelly, Jeremy, David, and Brett answered the call to deliver the supplies to the residents.
The Fire and Rescue Warragamba firefighters drove their 4X4 tanker to Wallacia via local decommissioned roads before hiking for one kilometre to reach the properties!
Their knowledge of the area when rescuing a dog in need during the last flood at Wallacia greatly assisted them when delivering the supplies.
With the goods packed safely and dry in their backpacks, they were successfully delivered, despite the roads being closed.
“Fire and Rescue are always prepared to help the local community. This includes any other areas where assistance is required such as working with our fellow emergency services members” explained Captain Davis of Fire and Rescue Warragamba to the Mulgoa Valley Gazette.
On behalf of the local community, thank you to our emergency services who continue to go above and beyond in our times of need.
