This year marks the 14th year of Damfest, with the great community event being held on Sunday the 20th of October from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Warragamba Recreation Reserve in Warragamba.

The local event includes a Community Fair, Swap Meet, Car Show, Bike Show and for the first time a Historical Truck Show. Admission to Damfest is free.

It will also feature live entertainment with some fantastic up and coming performers, Emergency Services displays (NSW Police, NSW Fire and Rescue, RFS and SES), helicopter joy flights, market stalls, amusement rides and lots of free entertainment for the kids including Golden Ridge Animal Farm, working dog demonstrations, sheep shearing and reptile shows throughout the day.

Damfest helps to raise awareness of the Warragamba and Silverdale area, providing fundraising opportunities for local community groups and organisations and allowing car, bike and truck enthusiasts to showcase their vehicles in a safe and family friendly environment. Proceeds of the day go back into the community.

The community of Warragamba is the legacy of a pre-World War II project designed to provide water to the burgeoning greater Sydney Metropolitan area. The “temporary” township was built to house the thousands of skilled and unskilled workers who were gathered together from across the globe to create the largest concrete structure of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere at the time.

It survives today with a solid background of those original Dam builders and the truly unique community spirit that evolved from the 37 different nationalities that arrived here to start a new life. They came as individuals and they came as families and they came for a better life. They became a living entity with friends and family intertwined in perpetuity.

After the devastating 2001 Christmas Day Bushfires, Warragamba worked hard to rebuild itself. In 2005, the Warragamba Silverdale Neighbourhood Centre created a community event to bring people back together. This event later came to be known as Damfest and has grown to entertain as many as 15,000 people at an individual event.

As always, they would like to give a huge thank you to all their sponsors including WaterNSW, Allam Property Group and Wollondilly Council. It’s only with the support of their sponsors that they can make this amazing event happen each year.

Come along and join us for an amazing day!
