Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It’s…It’s… It’s students enjoying reading books and dressing up at Oran Park Public School (OPPS).

Reading at OPPS is a superpower, as it creates and opens our imagination to worlds that exist inside others or informs us of facts or viewpoints. This year’s book parade theme was “Reading is my secret power”.

Oran Park Public School celebrated Book Week 2019 with the annual Book Week Parade. Mums, dads, carers and friends banded together to create memories for the students at OPPS who enjoyed a day of fun. Students paraded secret powers in costumes that replaced the regular maroon uniforms. The parade enabled students to share their favourite book character who possessed a secret power.

Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participated and the lively and dedicated staff also led by example as they displayed their own love of books and the characters who grace their pages. The whole community came together to share in the fun and enjoy the creativity of their families, friends, students and staff.
