Federal Member for Lindsay, Melissa McIntosh MP recently launched the Western Sydney International Nancy Bird Walton Airport Community Bus Tour.

Ms McIntosh joined the Western Sydney Airport CEO, Graham Millett and other key stakeholders on the first interactive Airport Shuttle Tour of the Airport site. Western Sydney Airport partnered with South West Community Transport, a not-for-profit organisation and charity to provide the bus and driver for the tours.

“Western Sydney is one of Australia’s fastest growing areas. The Western Sydney City Deal, Airport, Rail and road infrastructure will help provide the employment, housing, transport and educational opportunities needed to accommodate growth” said Ms McIntosh.

“The airport will support over 11,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction period and almost 28,000 full-time jobs within five years of opening. Jobs in construction, transport and logistics, retail, hospitality and professional services will be available closer to where people live”.

“Western Sydney Airport has set employment targets for local workers to make up at least 30 per cent of the workforce during construction and 50 per cent once the airport is operational. This is a great opportunity, particularly for people in and around Penrith”.

Community groups, such as local Probus and Rotary Clubs, who are keen to learn more about the Airport can now register their interest to take a guided bus tour of the airport site. Interested community groups can register their interest at info@wsaco.com.au.
