Larkin Place will be transformed into an exciting winter wonderland, for Camden’s first-ever Winterfest event!
The inaugural event will be Camden Council’s first massive three-day event, running from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 July, 10am-9pm. The main attraction will be an ice rink and, for $5, attendees will be able to skate for 20 minutes at a time. There will also be a number of free exciting activities lined up for residents at the event, including:
• Entertainment and performances;
• Face painting;
• Jumping castles;
• A Winter-themed market, for a spot of shopping; and
• Food and drink.
Argyle Street, which runs parallel to Larkin Place, will also be a hive of activity. There will be buskers and street performers providing entertainment throughout Camden Town Centre, local restaurants offering Winter-themed menus, Friday night socials to enjoy and so much more.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the Winter-themed event was a celebration of the improvements made to Argyle Street and the Camden Town Centre.
“This is our most historic centre and it’s very dear to us and our residents” she said.
“We’ve been working hard on this area and have made a number of exciting improvements. We’ve undertaken extensive landscaping work, upgraded and widened footpaths and the road, installed new, energy-efficient street lighting on multi-functional poles and so much more.
“We’ve also installed new fairy-lights in the Jacaranda trees along Argyle Street. On Saturday 13 July, I will be officially turning on all of the new fairy-lights.
“I’m encouraging all our residents to enjoy this beautiful part of the world. Enjoy the activities, eat some great food and support some of our fantastic local businesses”.
Camden Council is working closely with the Argyle Street Business Collective to offer an exciting program of events for the remainder of the year to celebrate the Camden Town Centre, including a bigger and better Jacaranda Festival later this year.
