Camden Country Quilters Guild will be hosting their 30th Annual Quilt Exhibition, at the Camden Civic Centre (Oxley Street in Camden), on Saturday 27th July from 9:30am to 4:30pm and Sunday 28th July from 9:30am to 4:00pm.

Camden Country Quilters Guild is now in their 30th year! Where has the time gone?

It all started when Denise Lawler, a local patchwork shop owner, had a flash of inspiration whilst working at the shop in November 1989. “We need a local guild” she said. Kaye Brown’s mother, Joan Goff, a member of Camden CWA, booked the CWA rooms in Murray Street in Camden to have their first meeting in February 1990. About 50 people turned up that Saturday afternoon – so Camden Country Quilters began. Lorraine Wheeler and Kaye Brown decided they would have a quilt show that first year and as they say the rest is history.

Since that time, 28 Exhibitions have been held in the AH & I Hall at Camden Showground and now it’s time for a new chapter to begin. They now have a new venue and a new weekend. Their 30th Exhibition will be held on the last weekend in July, Saturday 27th and Sunday, 28th July at the Camden Civic Centre.

With a growing Guild, the extra space will be welcome. They can now take advantage of the larger auditorium and do justice to their member’s quilts. There will also be the extra room for an amazing merchant hall and sales table.

Camden Country Quilters have supported the local community with giving quilts and raising funds for many organisations and charities in the past 30 years.

There will be a quilt raffle, merchant hall and refreshments available and entry will be $6.00. For enquiries, contact Chris Boardman on 0413 762028 or email boardmanc612@gmail.com.
