There has been some exciting health and fitness news for Wollondilly Shire recently, with new business Warragamba/Silverdale Meditation and Yoga starting and now running classes in the local community.

Vanessa Kum Jew and Claire Eva Turunen have come together, beginning the meditation and yoga business in April this year. Their classes are held on Mondays at Silverdale.

“The business was started from a call by the community to fill these needs and they wanted something local run by locals. Both of us are passionate about teaching people to find peace in the chaos our lives can bring, so we were very grateful for the opportunity and interest from our local community” said Vanessa and Claire.

Vanessa has run group and individual meditation classes for many years for both adults and children from home, under The Essence Within. She writes all her own meditation scripts and personalises them to the wants and needs of each group.

Claire started her yoga journey five years ago. Yoga gives her positive benefits in both mind and body, which she can now share with her students as a Yoga Teacher.

Classes are run every Monday evening at Silverdale Progress Hall, with yoga from 6:30pm to 7:00pm followed by meditation from 7:00pm to 7:30pm. The cost is $25 for both classes or $15 for just one class. There is an 8-week option of $180 if you pay upfront, saving you $20. It is also $15 for children aged 8-14 years for both classes. Casual visits are welcome.
