Seven-year-old Lucey Jobson recently made the brave decision to get her long hair cut for a worthy cause, raising an amazing $1,152.21 for Variety the Children’s Charity Hair with Heart!

The local Luddenham Public School student smashed her original goal of raising $500 and had 14 inches of her hair cut off at Insignia Hair and Day Spa in Penrith.

“Lucey had quite long hair and she thought it would be a nice thing to do to give her hair back to a sick kid to make a wig” said Shea Jobson, Lucey’s Mother.

When it comes to giving back to the community, the Jobson family also have another member who has previously raised valuable funds. Lucey’s brother Kade organised a lemonade stand a couple of years ago at Luddenham IGA, raising $800 for a friend’s family who were affected by cancer.

“Lucey’s Father (Tim) and I couldn’t be prouder. We strongly believe in teaching our kids the importance of giving” Shea explained to the Mulgoa Valley Gazette.

So, what does Lucey think about having her hair cut and her new hair style?

“Lucey is loving her new short hair as it is much lighter and very trendy” smiled Shea.
