Residents have the chance to erase their overdue library fines by donating food as part of Camden Council libraries’ amnesty to help local charities, until mid this month.
The Can Your Fines appeal which began on Monday 7 January 2019 and runs through to Saturday 16 February 2019 encourages people to return any late items.
“This is a great opportunity for residents to feel good about waiving overdue fines while assisting those in need with food donations” Mayor of Camden, Cr Peter Sidgreaves said.
“Canned goods and wool are accepted as part of the initiative and I encourage residents to get involved in the initiative”.
Any overdue books, toys, DVDs, CDs or magazines brought back during the fine amnesty need to be returned with canned goods (within six months of expiry) or eight-ply knitting wool to have the fines waived.
