Foothills Vineyard Church started as a handful of people in a rental property in Yellow Gum Close, Glenmore Park in mid-1995. Its members often washed cars for free or gave out free cold drinks in the area on hot days “just to show the love of God – no strings attached”.
In February 1996, the church moved into Regentville School and has met there for the last twenty-three years! Around 15 years ago, the church purchased land in Factory Road, Regentville for a church home.
According to the previous owner, the land was once part of a chicken farm extending across what is now the M4 and the Harvey Norman complex. Grapes and other produce were also grown on the land.
Foothills Church (a name change) is finally building a home in Factory Road. In keeping with the history of the land and the vision of the church to bring restoration and fruitfulness to people’s lives, close to one hundred fruit trees will be planted on the property. The new home of Foothills Church will be dubbed “The Orchard” and their “Orchard Café” will operate for church and community events. A community garden will also be established to engage people with a disability and play areas for young and older kids.
Church services will be at 9.30am (with Kid’s Church) and 5pm (a youth service). The church offers a thriving youth group and many other activities to help people grow spiritually and live well. There is an open invitation for anyone wanting to join the church family.
The official opening will be on Sunday February 24. Everyone is welcome to the worship service at 9.30am, or feel free to rock up from 11.30am for free awesome coffee from the café, a free BBQ lunch, and giant water slide for the kids to enjoy into the afternoon. For further details call the Pastor, Paul Marshall on 0413 806977.
Foothills Church finally finds a home and you and your family are welcome to check it out and help this Christian community celebrate after a long wait.
