The growth in popularity and participation of NRL Wheelchair have enabled them to begin to form sub-branches around New South Wales. With backing from local organisations, community groups and rugby league clubs, their goal is to establish a local committee within the south west Sydney district, based out of the Macarthur region.
With assistance from NSWWRL and Wheelchair Rugby League Australia, these committees will be responsible for running local competitions and introducing NRL Wheelchair into the region’s community. These local competitions will be used to provide grassroots and development opportunities for new and existing players and will be the first step in the path to representative wheelchair rugby league.
They are looking for expressions of interest from people within the local Macarthur community to join their committee, assisting them with growing their sport and providing a much-needed service to south west Sydney. This is a great opportunity for local professionals, community workers, junior and senior rugby league clubs and volunteers to expand their network and be part of a great local, state and national project.
If you would like to be involved as a committee member, volunteer or player, please fill out the form at www.nrlwheelchair.com.au/swsydneygetinvolved and pass onto your contacts. A community meeting will be held in late November 2018.
